A lovely park along the Rainy River, Timber Mill has a number of amenities, including a boat ramp into the fish-rich Rainy River, and several sports opportunities, including a skateboard park. A scenic walking path takes advantage of the riverside views. The park is not large, but is pristinely maintained and has gorgeous river views. Sites are somewhat close together, but trees have been added for privacy and shade. Pets are allowed. This is a boater’s and angler’s dream region, especially the area right across the top of the state with Lake of the Woods, the Rainy River, and Rainy Lake, often referred to as the Walleye Capital of the World (to the chagrin of some of the other walleye lakes in Minnesota). Lake of the Woods, most of which is in Canada, has 65,000 miles of shoreline and 14,000 islands.
