The lower Green River in this short stretch of placid but relatively fast water bound by dikes on both sides is worth considering, much of it flanked by parklands in west Kent and in Tukwila.
It begins in a rural area marked by nurseries, berry fields, and old barns; traverses several miles of fertile farmland now devoted to housing developments; passes through Tukwila’s industrial and commercial heart; then, after passing beneath I-405, ends at Fort Dent Park. It provides a link between the Green River in the Auburn–Kent area and the Duwamish River, allowing a continuous trip of more than 30 miles.
