The hills and narrowing canyon of this arm lure the paddler to explore quiet places, fish, and swim. When the Army Corps of Engineers completed Folsom Dam in 1954, it created Folsom Lake. The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation owns the lake and surrounding lands and contracts with the California Department of Parks and Recreation for recreation management. With more than 1.5 million visitors annually, Folsom is one of Northern California’s most popular state park areas.
