We put two rafts in on the Yellowstone River about 25 miles south of Livingston, MT for a 12 mile float. There are numerous access points along this section of the Yellowstone River for floats of a few hours to several days.
This section of the river is all class 1 water, but with a good current flow to help keep you moving along at a nice pace. Ocassional ripples provide some fun. The views on the banks of the River are fairly mundane from next to highway US 89, to ranches, camping and outfitting areas, and some forest areas. The views in the distance, however, are spectacular of the Gallitan National Forest & Gallitan Mountain chain to the West, and the Beartooth & Absoraka Mountain chain to the East & Northeast.
All in all, a pleasant float for beginning rafters, but also enjoyable for experienced rafters with inexperienced guests along.
