Exploring Blue Hill Harbor and the surrounding waters makes for a full day or afternoon of relaxed paddling in a relatively protected area. There are pleasant views in every direction, and the shoreline is nicely contoured and dotted with saltwater farms as well as newer getaways for the summer crowd. There are few places to pull out and not many islands in this area, but the town of Blue Hill is a great place to start and finish with its fine restaurants, art galleries, and nearby farmer’s co-op market. A half-acre island, Twin Oaks, on the southern end of the inner harbor is open to the public for day use. If you are looking out the passage to the outer harbor, it is on your right before you reach the small pocket cove below Parker Point.
