Riding the Westport is a relaxing and delightful trip where boat traffic is light and the scenery inviting. Given favorable tidal currents and light wind, kayakers can enjoy an easy paddle through a beautiful rural landscape. Pleasant in summer and exquisite in fall, the trip offers kayakers a glimpse into the rarely seen-from-the sea pastoral Massachusetts countryside. It also gives paddlers the opportunity to see osprey as well as a variety of other estuarine birds. For the best osprey viewing bring binoculars! Attractions: Bucolic rural scenery, wide tidal river, excellent birdwatching (especially osprey). Fall foliage and warm water make this an excellent late-season paddle.
