This short paddle allows kayakers to explore both sandy Pamet Harbor and the marshy reaches of the Pamet River. The two destinations stand in high contrast. Travel first up the quiet, winding Pamet River, whose turbid waters, brown mud banks, and green grass close in on paddlers bent on reaching its navigable end. Down at the Pamet Harbor breezes are fresher and horizons substantially broader. There kayakers greet other boaters, enjoy sandy beaches, and gain views north to Provincetown Harbor or south down Cape Cod Bay. Paddle at high tide for the best paddle in this shallow waters. Attractions: Tidal river, salt marsh, bird-watching.
