There is no development on Hutchinson Pond and very little on Jimmie Pond because both supply water for the town of Hallowell, but these two ponds are quite different. With the exception of the small southern arm, Jimmie Pond is deep, lacks marshy areas, and supports a cold-water fishery; it has access points on both the south and north. In contrast, Hutchinson Pond is shallow, marshy, supports a warmwater fishery, and is relatively inaccessible. The question becomes: How hard do you want to work in order to see the beautiful, seldom visited, wild Hutchinson Pond? Prominent fish species: brook trout, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, and chain pickerel.
