Thousand Acre Swamp offers a 1- to 2-hour leisurely paddle on a weed-filled pond surrounded by Cookson State Forest. While we enjoy the swamp, we much prefer the secluded East Indies Pond, especially in late June with its spectacular mountain laurel bloom. Look for beaver here in the evening, along with typical marsh species.
