This is a fine trip to take in mid-August or early September when the great blue herons are starting to congregate to fly south. You can see half a dozen or more of these majestic 4-foot-high birds catching fish in the salt water pannes (open water areas) on the marsh or flying low, large wings outstretched, necks folded.
