This route is intended for paddlers who enjoy a challenge. The longest portage in the eastern region of BWCAW, from Rove Lake to Rose Lake, is conquered. The majestic beauty of Rose Lake and its surroundings will heal any resentments about the difficulty of the portage from Rove Lake, however. Further, the other portages are not difficult, the scenery is magnificent, and fishing opportunities abound. After this trip nothing the boundary waters have to offer will be too rugged, and fond memories of the scenery and personal accomplishment will remain for many years. Independence Day storm–affected area.
