This region is probably the most scenic of the entire BWCAW. Deep blue-water lakes stretch for miles between spectacular bluffs. All the customary game fish can be caught, and one lake even has muskellunge. Most time will be spent paddling, but there are a few long portages. Motors are allowed on some of the lakes. Wind will probably be a consideration. Independence Day storm–affected area.

Didn't do this exact route. Canoed the area from the Canadian side as a kid, but unfortunately there is no public documentation of the various routes and portages in Canada for this area. Mountain lake is one of the most magical areas to canoe. Crystal clear spring fed water. Lake trout with flesh as pink as a salmons.
