This is a semi–base camp trip where fishing and exploring are more important than the distance covered. The number of lakes is kept to a minimum, leaving time to explore the length and breadth of the few large lakes encountered. Two entry points are breached and a permit must be acquired for each one. For this reason this trip will usually be most available after September 15 when permits can be filled out right on the lakes from the boxes placed at the access points. Fishing opportunities abound, and campers at Flour Lake Campground or East Bearskin Lake Campground will be able to use their main campsite for one or more nights while on the trip. The portages north from East Bearskin Lake are steep and rugged.
