This is an introductory trip to the BWCAW. It is a good fishing trip but very appropriate for non-anglers, also. There are only three short portages. Scenic, island dotted lakes are crossed, including the notable Red Rock Lake. Almost every fish available in the BWCAW can be caught, including brook trout. Motorboats are allowed, and people will probably be seen or heard in most areas. Fire scars from the Roy Lake fire and the Romance Lake fire are visible, as well as damage from the July 4, 1999, windstorm.
