This route reaches south from the Iron Lake Campground to a series of lakes that extend west to Long Island Lake. Then it returns on the same lakes. It is a seldom-used route, best suited for energetic paddlers. It should yield excellent northern pike fishing. It is, also, an exceptional route for moose hunting with a camera. The first day portages are easy, but the second day is rugged. It connects to dozens of other routes at Long Island Lake, and the entry quotas are seldom filled. Independence Day storm–affected area.
