This trip has both lake and river travel and one long portage. Start the trip with an 80-rod portage to Slim Lake. Then head west through two small lakes to a very long portage to Big Rice Lake. Leave by following the Portage River. Stay on the river until it crosses the Echo Trail (County Road 116). Then reverse the route to return to Slim Lake. Options include shuttling back from the trail or portaging to Big Lake and shuttling back from there. This trip connects to other routes. Independence Day storm–impacted area.
