A varied piece of Lake Huron coastline that allows kayakers to view lighthouses, beaches, sand dunes, and rugged sandstone cliffs. The Pointe aux Barques area, at the very tip of the Thumb, has a number of interesting features that invite exploration by kayak. There are two historic lighthouses, miles of sandy beach, the largest sand dunes on the east side of the state, and an area of sandstone cliffs and caves that seems to have been transplanted from the rocky shores of Lake Superior.
