The dunes at Pyramid Point are spectacular, rising more than 400 feet from the lake. For those who are fit and foolish enough to climb the steep sand bluff, there is a wonderful view of the dune bluffs and North and South Manitou Islands. Much of the shoreline on either side of Pyramid Point is privately owned so please respect the rights of property owners and do not land without permission. The coast consists almost entirely of sand beach, and North and South Manitou provide some shelter from large seas coming from the northwest. Winds from the southwest or from the north can make for very rough seas off Pyramid Point. Check the weather before departing, and plan on spending most of the time in your kayak because of private land holdings east and west of pyramid point.
