Isle Royale is a wilderness park with no roads and few amenities; and it is a popular destination for backpackers and boaters. Isle Royale is great for kayaks, too. Paddlers can choose protected, scenic areas, such as Rock Harbor and the Five Fingers, or the challenge of more rugged and exposed shoreline. Because the ferry, Voyager II, completely circles the islands and makes stops at the major campsites, it is possible to paddle a one-way section of the island and arrange for the ferry to pick up you and your boat at the end of a segment.

I went on a weeklong kayaking trip of the '5 fingers' area of Isle Royale National Park. It was a truly amazing trip that I'd recommend to any paddler.
