The Toronto Islands is a great urban day trip. Not a challenging trip it takes you away from a major city that you never really loss site of. Within site of the mainland you can voyage here under your own paddling power. The islands have several permanent residents that provide an unique flavour. The unusual home and house boats designs provide hours of entertainment. The various canals and paths provide a seemly endless voyage always within a safe enivorment. The day I was at the Islands the local running club (Longboat Roadrunners) had their annual 10km running race. The Longboat hold this event on the second Sunday in September each year. Various watercraft travel around and through the island lagoons. A worthly visit for tourist and local Ontarians.
