This section flows by the broad, marshy floodplain of the Honner State Wildlife Management Area, an excellent place to spot waterfowl and shorebirds. Although the river has grown larger, it is still woefully inadequate to fill the broad valley, in places, bluffs rise several hundred yards back from the river. A bottomland forest of silver maple, cottonwoods, elm, and as screen the river from the farmland beyond the corridor.
