Flowing gently through a wooded corridor, the Straight is a good match for beginning canoeists. Outside of town, the Straight forms a shining path of quick water down a narrow corridor of woods in a landscape otherwise thoroughly planted and pastured. In Clinton Falls, the river takes a sharp bend and drops over a steep rapids at the site of an old mill.
