Lively, clear, and full of fish, the infant St. Croix races through the sand hills of northern Wisconsin. Yes, Wisconsin! It's such a beautiful stretch we include it in a Minnesota guide. Coppermine Dam and a couple of rapids will get your attention. Also, watch out for deer ticks, tiny, reddish, egg-shaped ticks that can transmit Lyme disease, which is common in eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
