The Snake picks up the pace again, rushing through long but mostly easy rapids. Fishing is good for a variety of species, especially smallmouth bass. Here, the river has grown from the tiny woodland stream to rocky rapids presenting paddlers with a sometimes puzzling number of possible routes. The problem is solved in medium to high water, which covers the rocks but also throws up long chains of standing waves.
