The Snake flows slowly with few riffles. The forested banks give way to farm fields in much of this stretch. Watch for fishing boats in the last few miles of river, between Pokegama Lake and Cross Lake at Pine City. The slow pace of this stretch allows time for quiet reflection and an opportunity to watch wildlife, including waterfowl, shorebirds, forest songbirds, and various forest mammals.
