Marble Creek is the alternate whitewater run for the intermediate paddler when the St. Francis is nearing flood stage or higher. This medium-sized creek alternates between fast-moving pools, tight willow-lined chutes, and small drops and ledges. Almost the entire creek is protected by the Mark Twain National Forest, enhancing the water quality and scenery tremendously. Paddlers can expect a relatively remote run on this short but exciting creek. Immediately below the put-in is a 5-foot dam. Scout first and run it center or far left. The rapid below the dam leads to a pool that circles around Marble Creek Campground. After going nearly full circle, the river turns left. A roar signals Bridge Rapid. Go right of a diagonal ledge that nearly spans the river. Work left as you paddle under the SR E bridge.
