This quiet little tributary of the St. Francis is not a whitewater run; however, this creek has many things going for it. Located near the southern end of the St. Francois Mountains, it flows through two small shut-ins. The stream’s pristine lower half flows through Sam A. Baker State Park. Granite bluffs, deep pools, crystal-clear water, steep hills with glades above, and the scenic shut-ins make up for the lack of large rapids. There are only a few outfitters renting canoes on the creek, so this float trip can be quiet compared with more popular Ozark streams.
