Paddled down the Current River from Akers Ferry to Two Rivers with my 14 year old Daughter and would highly reccomend this trip to anyone. This time of year the weather can be a bit unpredictable. We had freezing temps at night and snow flurries on the first day and by day 3 the temp was upper 70's and we both got sunburn. There are many springs and caves to explore during the trip. The river offers plenty to keep your attention but not too tough to navigate. A great learning experience for begginer paddlers.
Our overnight trip actually began at Akers Ferry and ended at Round Springs approximate trip was 21 miles. Water level was 1.4 and I would consider that to be minimum level to keep from bumping bottom at every riffle. Spectacular scenery, lots of sand bars and islands to camp on made this an exceptional overnight trip, That coupled with the absolutely clear water. Would recommend this trip to anyone who wants to get away for a weekend.
Water average was about 2'' making for a good current. Excellent scenery on our 100 mile trip, covered in 4 nights and five days of paddeling. A lot of places to get out and explore. There are lots of camping "bars" with some sand and various size rocks. Fishing was poor.
