Sandlick Creek runs along WV 3 for several miles, gathering volume before wandering off through semi-wilderness to join Marsh Fork.
This section begins as fast-flowing water with riffles then turns into continuous Class 2–3. After merging with Marsh Fork, the rapids become heavier and pushier Class 2–3 for the next 2.5 miles to Arnett. If you continue on, it is 4 more miles to Rock Creek and 6.5 more miles to Dry Creek. The river here has Class-2+ rapids, but the scenery runs hot and cold.
