Above WV 20 the Right Fork is small and tight, with many Class 2–3 ledges and tight spots. The scenery is below average, with many run-down homes. Below WV 20 the river parallels CR 5 most of the way. The rapids are Class 1 and 2, and the river gets pretty flat as it approaches its junction with the Left Fork. The lower river is more attractive, featuring fewer homes and banks lined with rhododendron and hemlock.
