This run has plenty of rapids and enough gradient to test an intermediate paddler. The initial mile is pretty quiet, but once the river turns away from WV 20 things start to happen. Most rapids are straightforward, formed by low ledges. Occasionally a rock garden is thrown in to offer added technical challenge. The run is isolated and attractive, with minimal signs of human activity. Part of the way through the run and just beyond an attractive cabin on river right, there’s a steep stair-step drop that hugs the right channel. Those not familiar with it should scout from river left or boat scout from a tiny eddy near the top. The river right rock shelf is slightly undercut, and it may collect wood.
