Bull Run flows along timidly for a few miles before making an abrupt plunge into the Cheat Canyon. Once a clean stream, it has been badly polluted with acid runoff since the early 1970s. The run starts off furiously with some drops approaching the limits of runability before it calms down to a continuous series of small but blind boulder drops. Trees are a constant threat, but the run has been cleaned up considerably by some dedicated WVU paddlers. Undercuts and sieves are also a problem in many of the rapids, so be careful.
