Not to be confused with Red Creek, this steep little stream drains Canaan Valley. Its mouth is just upstream of Otter Creek. The lower section of Red Run is the most difficult run in the Canaan area. It runs through a steep gorge and is very remote. The creek is very small and continuous, with only a few small eddies to stop. An impressive series of gnarly boulder drops starts early in the trip and continues all the way to the end. The rapids are very tight and abusive, with lots of undercuts and sieves. The scenery is breathtaking, but the rapids are so intense that you’ll hardly notice.
