The New begins with the confluence of the North and South Forks. At this point it has already become a fairly wide river although still primarily shallow. From Mouth of Wilson to Stuart Dam, the New is mostly flat, therefore we have omitted these 2.5 miles. The river flows through forested rolling hills and pastoral lands and in general is a very scenic stream.
