Starting at Tapiola Park—only because it’s conveniently located—head out of town on State Route 202. The early section affords a shoulder that ranges from adequate to broad; Youngs Bay laps at the shore just feet away, and gulls hover above while seabirds ?oat on the water. The shoulder eventually peters out, and you transition to riding along the banks of the Youngs River. Around 6.5 miles, enter a straight woodsy stretch broken up by pockets of pasture. A barely perceptible climb takes you to 7.8 miles, where you drop down into a lazy serpentine.
