The easiest way to Puget Sound’s islands is by bike, as you zip by long lines of car traf?c and are ushered ?rst on and off the ferryboats like royalty. At least you might feel royal when you head to such coveted destinations as Whidbey Island atop your shiny two-wheeler.
Leave the car behind to sample Whidbey’s pleasures on an afternoon ride around the rolling hills of the island’s south end. Pop into two small towns, explore a pebbly beach, and ?nd many a quiet side road lined with tall trees or offering views of salt water and mountain peaks.
