Rails To Trails: Washington & Oregon

I usually enter the trail 1.8 miles from snoqualmie falls. The trail is flat with the exception of one small hill. Lovely view of the falls helps make the run inspirational. Did see an adult black bear run across the trail in June, but the bear was not looking to talk!
This is a casual paved trail. Decent territorial views, and then a nice long distance view of Snoqualmie Falls. I walked the 1.8 mile section East Bound from the Snoqualmie/Preston trail head parking lot up Lake Alice Road. Suitable for skates, bikes, wheelchairs, walkers and joggers. Dogs too.
We started at the Lake Alice trail head so it was only 4 miles (GPS) round trip to the Snoqualmie Falls overlook. It's pretty level and paved path all the way.
Excellent for our Sunday afternoon bike ride with adults and 13-yr-olds. We rode from Preston to the Snoqualmie Falls overlook, which was a great payoff. We were concerned about the long initial downgrade, knowing that we'd be riding back up on the return. But, since it's a railroad bed, the climb was not demanding at all. There's a substantial detour in the middle of the ride, necessary because the original trestle bridge (which must have been huge) is long gone. But even that was a good part of the adventure. Enjoy.
We walked the paved path from the Alice Lake area to the end near Snoqualmie Falls. We saw some people along the path, but we had the viewpoint completely to ourselves for at least 30 minutes. I hiked beyond the chain-link fence at the end (posted "no trespassing"). A short distance beyond the fence, there is an old trestle which is crooked and has no top surface other than the narrow timbers running lengthwise. Don't even consider going on them, they are slick as snot and you'd fall to your death at mid-span. The way-trail does continue below the trestle, but I don't know where it ends. This area is off-limits and does have some dangers so I can't recommend it.
