The Taneum Ridge loop provides a nice contrast to the nearby North Fork Taneum Creek loop. It starts out with the same doubletrack and road climb, but it's a shorter ride and provides some distant Cascades views that the North Fork loop lacks. It's a more vertical singletrack, too; you'll find sharper climbs and faster descents on the trail. The final descent is a screamer! You'll encounter some dust, stutter bumps and cupped sections of trail as you ride through forest and clear-cuts. Strong legs are necessary to get you up to the trail; good bike handling skills are required to get you back down. This area can provide days of camping and riding, with many, many trails to explore; bring maps and an adventurous spirit. Scenery: Glacier Peak, the Stuart Range, and other views to the north, courtesy of a clear-cut at the top.

This trail climbs quickly and follows the ridge for a few miles. It's not a very long ride, but the steep climb and decent will give you a good work out. However, I'd prefer to do one of the other nearby trails, like Taneum Creek, or Frost Mountain.
