Green Mountain State Forest is located close to Tahuya State Forest, but it offers quite a different riding experience. The loop portion of the journey starts after climbing on the Wildcat Trail past the Green Mountain Campground. Passing the lower junction with the rooty Beaver Pond Trail, it makes its way to the peak on the Vista Trail after passing the top of the Beaver Pond Trail. Returning on the Beaver Pond Trail, the loop portion is complete as you make your final descent on the Wildcat Trail. The view form the top is a sweeping panorama of Puget sound, the Seattle area and beyond, plus hood Canal, and views of the Olympic Mountains as you wander around the picnic area. Good fitness test and great views, close to town. Scenery: views of the Seattle skyline and Puget Sound, Hood Canal, and the Olympic Mountains.

Long climb uphill made especially challenging by the fact that motorcycles are allowed on this trail. Killer views, on a clear day you can actually see Seattle. Besides the views not much else on the way up. On the way down though, hold on! It is quite a quick, fun ride.
