This is a great trial if you like to work, lots of switchbacks and lots of uphill challenges, its well worth the leg burn, and views. I had a stronger rider pass me, but that was it - the traill doesn't get a lot of riders, and the river crossing and creeks give you places to cool the feet. a must do trail. Park at the lower Park and enjoy it.
Sweet trail and holds up to the switchback claim. Traced the breadcrumb trail on my Garmin Edge GPS bike computer and counted over 71 switchbacks! The 2.1 miles up to Three Corner Rock are not that hard to climb. The view is definitely worth it! It's hard to find the trailhead and we forgot to get the mileage from the 3 road junction. It's just past 2 cleared areas and near a spring that goes under the road - approx. 3-5 miles past the junction. Now read this carefully...contrary to what the directions tell you..are you ready....SHUTTLE THIS RIDE...S-H-U-T-T-L-E THIS RIDE. This is trails.com not fireroads.com. There is no reason to ride the first 10 miles of fireroad. It requires a downshift in a truck to make the hill and is just boring, relentless climb. Other than that the 9 miles of singletrack may not sound like much but you'll enjoy ever inch...and that's a lot of inches! Check it out!
The trail is pretty cool and I would surely recommend riding up and then returning on the same trail (do the out-and-back). It is not that hard to ride up, but it is a different experience. Also, ride up to the top of the rock. The view is pretty cool. It takes about 3 hours round trip.
