Between Beatty and Thompson Reservoir, about 50 miles northeast of Klamath Falls. Tread: loose cinders cover most of the route. The cinders are packed on some sections and are easier to ride than the loose basalt on the OC & E Main Line. Hazards: the 100-foot high Merritt Creek Trestle will not be safe to cross until it has decking and railings. Bring plenty of drinking water.

Merritt trestle was redone in 2010. Several gates to go through which must be closed after use. Mile markers present. Sycan trailhead hard to find.
