Nothing beats beginning a difficult ride with a hearty climb. This advanced ridge ride, overlooking Lake Wenatchee, takes you to the panoramic heights of Round Mountain. It’s also highly regarded by cyclists who enjoy gonzo-abusive mountain biking. To reduce saddle fatigue, consider turning this loop into a shuttle ride or possibly shortening the loop. For a thrilling singletrack ride, you’ll want to go for the Nason Ridge ride. Now if you’re a super-biker, you can probably ride the initial climb of this ride. Mere mortals will most likely have to push a little. After leaving the parking area at the Merritt Lake Trail trailhead, the climb begins immediately, gaining a lot of elevation. (We recommend a brief warm-up on the road.) The trail reaches Merritt Lake at 5,083 feet after about 3 miles.

I start from Wenatchee side. Ascend was very sandy and difficult from fitness perspective, but not technical. Riding on the ridge was pretty technical. Descent from Merrit Lake relatively easy. I use route 2 to ride back to start and it was nice ride on very gentle downhill ;)
