The East Loop of the Circum Whatcom County Century explores many miles of farms and forest and meanders along the base of the Cascade foothills. It includes more hills than the West Loop, but the effort is well rewarded with spectacular views.
There is usually little traffic on these roads, and the first 10 miles south of Wiser Lake is flat farmland. When you turn onto Noon Road, you'll encounter mild rolling hills as you head in the direction of Mt. Baker, one of the major volcanic peaks along the Pacific Coast. On clear days you'll see the mountain's glacier-covered peak just beyond the forested foothills, looming ever closer as you ride east. Baker is a towering white beacon that leads you to the community of Nugent's Corner. Terrain: flat to moderate hills.
