Early autumn is an ideal time to explore the Kittitas Valley, which lies just east of the towering Cascades in central Washington State. The ride is named for the extraordinary Manastash Ridge of peaks to the southwest of the Ellensburg Valley. This route is ideal for exploring this beautiful valley of ranches and timber communities, making use of low traffic and relatively flat roads. Terrain: the shorter ride of the two is flat except for one .5 mile climb after the second Yakima River crossing. The longer ride (64.2 miles) has several short climbs between Thorp and Cle Elum, and back along the Yakima River Canyon.
