The Middlebrook Ramble takes cyclists through the rolling countryside of southern Augusta County and the incomparable Shenandoah Valley. You won’t find restaurants or souvenir shops along this route, nor will you find hotels, convenience stores, stoplights or traffic. That is why this ride is so special. This ride is well known as the Sunday Family route on Staunton’s Shenandoah Fall Festival held in late October. Configured as a figure-eight, this ride can be done three ways: a very easy 9-mile beginner route, an 11-miler offering a few more hills, or by doing both loops for a fulfilling 20-mile ramble. Cyclists can pick up food and drink and do what is necessary in Staunton, just 10 miles to the north. Terrain: Flat to gently rolling. The 11-mile loop has some hills that may challenge beginners.

This trail is an out and back loop two different routes to take advantage of the full 20 mile trip. The secenery is beautiful and the traffic was very light on 90% of the roads. There are a couple of tough climbs for a beginner on the second half of the loop but you are rewarded with a long downhill after each.
