The Farmville Classic is a long cruise around the gentle, rolling farmlands of Cumberland and Buckingham counties. This area is rich in history, for it was through this region that General Robert E. Lee and his armies retreated to Appomattox, the site of the last great drama of the Civil War. Take a short detour to Bear Creek Lake State Park, where an abundant variety of outdoor activities await the energetic—or a relaxing and refreshing swim for the weary. Cycle past numerous poultry farms on your way back to Farmville, where you can celebrate at Charley’s Waterfront Cafe, housed in an old tobacco warehouse. Terrain: Flat to gently rolling.
