The Mount Jackson Cruise takes the cyclist through the northern reaches of the magnificent Shenandoah Valley. Leaving Mount Jackson, the cruise starts out climbing the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains to the west. After cresting the small ridge, the cruise runs along its spine with spectacular mountain views in all directions.
After a rewarding descent back into the valley, the cruise turns back to the north, following the North Fork of the Shenandoah River. Near the ride’s end, cycle through historic Meems Bottom Bridge, the longest and one of the few remaining covered bridges left in Virginia. Terrain: First half is moderately hilly. Some long, flat stretches. Moderate difficulty.
