I rode the cold water trail and the Rainbow Trail. I started from the Rodeo Arena and journied to the end of Coldwater. The maintience crew has placed cinder (gravel) on the majority of the trail from the rodeo arena to about half way up the trail. Very difficult peddling in cinders.
After the Coldwater trail I headed for the Rainbow trail. The majority of this trail was walked. Very difficult riding for this beginner. I had to push my bike up many of the trails to reach the peaks. The ride down was not much of a ride. Very much a controled crash. I would not recommend this ride for the weak at heart. I did crash a couple of times, however no damage to the bike or rider. Take lots of water, extra batteries for the GPS and MP3 player. And one last thing, I will wear a helmet next time, the surface is unpredictable with all the loose rocks and long drops (50' plus). Helmet could be the difference is a stay at Barrows Neurological Center.
