This is a great trail with a lot less traffic than the nearby Box Canyon Trail. You really need a 4 wheel drive but I did it in a fairly stock Xterra Off Road. I would not go alone unless you are experienced at off-roading as well as use being able to deal with desert conditions. The first few turns are little confusing but stay on the path most taken and you will find your way. The turn that is at the cemetery also take you east of the school.
Ajax Mine is a great place to stop for lunch if you are doing it as a day trip. Look out for mime shafts. They are all over this area and not all are easily seen. The canyons and vistas in this area are beautiful and remote. I will probably take the wife there in the spring when the wild flowers are blooming.
