This long route travels through remote areas of Capitol Reef National Park and BLM land north of Caineville. The route is normally suitable for a 2WD high-clearance vehicle in good weather. Long stretches of sand, some minor rough sections, and the Fremont River crossing make it unsuitable for passenger vehicles. Special Attractions: Desert viewpoints of Lower and Upper South Desert Overlooks; Historic Morrell cabin; Desert scenery in Cathedral Valley in Capitol Reef National Park. High-clearance vehicles are preferred, but not necessary. This trail is dirt roads, but may have rocks, grades, water crossings, or ruts that make clearance a concern in a normal passenger vehicle. The trail is fairly wide, so that passing is possible at almost any point along the trail. Mud is not a concern under normal weather conditions.
